About Black Anvil Creative

The history of Black Anvil Creative extends back to 1997 when Leon & SuEllen Yoder formed Legendary Designs, a sign shop specializing in business signage. Throughout the twenty years in the sign business, they gained experience marketing their own business and also shared in the marketing of many other local businesses. Leon’s marketing experience was built on the degrees of success and failure shared with clients in the real world of small business.

In 2012 they launched a new company, Black Anvil Media, as a platform to expand their marketing services. Since their first client, they have provided service to the small business world in Northern Indiana and across the nation. Their focus was on marketing and image consultation with a specific focus on developing websites for clients and creating customer interactions on social media and other digital platforms.

During the latter part of this same time period, Viewfinder Creative was formed in 2017 by Justin Stoltzfus and Elliot Mullet, with a desire to provide quality marketing tools for businesses throughout Michiana. Their focus was on creating quality photography and print products, specializing in catalogs, flyers, and other marketing tools that companies would use to promote themselves.

After partnering on several client projects, we realized that our product offerings worked well together. Several options for working together were discussed, but we quickly realized that the best way forward was a merger. After working through the details, we brought our companies together in 2023 to form Black Anvil Creative.

Collectively, our marketing team has more than 80 years of professional marketing and design experience. This partnership creates a comprehensive marketing agency equipped to provide you with a full range of marketing services.
